Prominent on-chain investigator ZachXBT has identified John Daghita (alias "Lick") as the alleged perpetrator behind a $40 million cryptocurrency theft from U.S. government-controlled wallets. The breach appears linked to insider access through Daghita's father, who owns CMDSS—a Virginia-based government contractor managing seized crypto assets for the U.S. Marshals Service.

Blockchain trails reveal direct transfers to Daghita-controlled wallets, with authorities recovering partial funds within 24 hours. Approximately $40 million remains missing, exposing critical gaps in oversight of government-held digital assets. Competitors had previously raised concerns about CMDSS's practices prior to the incident.
